While I generally disagree that the bike race was incompatible to the park, I have a real problem with showing the photo of the prairie 2 years ago then showing the same view from the day of the race and leading people to make the conclusion that the bike race was the cause of the destruction.

If Warner park is to be a wild landscape in the sense of wilderness (ie primitive transport only) I would tend to agree that bike races would not be the thing to do, but seeing as the city was the start the decrease of wild setting, which you acknowledge, it is unfair to put a negative spotlight on the bike race.

Plus I don't think it very responsible to be riding bikes while looking through binoculars.

i tried to comment on the videos but it wouldn't allow me to(possibly my fault), i have to say i didn't see anything in that video that shocked me. All i saw were people using a public park to have a good time, no animals were harmed, no land was destroyed and hundreds of people visited a park that they may not have known existed before. who's to say that they wont return to experience some of the wildlife that warner has to offer on another day? i really don't see a big downside to this event as long as it continues to be run responsibly.

The impact of this cycling event versus something like Rhythm N' Booms on the Warner Park environment, flora and fauna seems ludicrous. Really, a few hours of cycling in a confined area in comparison to 300,000 plus people, LOUD explosions, low altitude jet and helicopter flyovers, loud music, not to mention what looks like a garbage bomb having gone off the day after? Come on, really?
