Test Event: Crown Vetch Removal
November 12, 2022 @ 9:00 am - 12:00 pm
Hello, I’m creating a test event.
In this imaginary event, we’ll be discussing the invasiveness of crown vetch, the danger it poses to our prairies, how to identify it and how to eliminate it. The seeds of crown vetch can persist for decades, and it is good at coming back after burns. The highway authority is fond of planting it because of its perceived beauty, lack of maintenance and ability to spread.
That why, the follow up to this event will be work on some non-specific prairie in town to identify crown vetch and begin the process of eliminating it where it grows.
You do not need to be experienced in plant ID or have any prior knowledge of crown vetch – Children are welcome to attend if accompanied by a chaperone. Bring drinking water, sunscreen, bug spray, a hat, work gloves, and a snack, if desired. Wear closed toed shoes and clothes you don’t mind working in – long sleeves and long pants are recommended. There are burrs out there, so keep that in mind as well.
We will provide all other tools as well as snacks and water just in case. Please reach out to {firstname lastname} via {phone number} for further information or questions.
